The Dark Knight trailer is out.

There's also a 7 minute prologue (rumored to not be in the actual theatrical film) which shows the "origin" of the joker. Well, not really. It shows the Joker robbing a bank. Somewhat of an origin, as it's what propels him into the criminal spotlight. It's terrific, and I hope the rest of the film features the same gritty illlogic. I had a lot of doubts about this new joker's portrayal, the prologue wiped them out.

Sadly, I have no link for the prologue. In the infinite wisdom reserved for film studios, it's only available as an attachment to the IMAX version of I Am Legend.

I'm probably going to see I Am Legend, as it's supposedly a not-crappy movie, and I'm a Will Smith fanboy. (He lost a lot of traction with I Robot, I'm hoping this will earn it back.) That said, IMAX only? The heck? Not to mention putting meaningful film content as a rider on ANOTHER FREAKING FILM. You guys on crack?

You can find bootlegs of course, but linking them is meaningless as they're constantly in flux. I had good luck with Google Video.

Check it out.

I think this answers some questions about the mediocre first week of Movie sales. All the people who've been dragging their feet on seeing the series are now rushing to see it before watching the film. The next two weeks of Box office numbers could get really interesting.

I'm getting LOST again on Wednesday, and the series is really getting interesting. The door is open to anyone I can recognize, and anyone they bring with them. There's popcorn, chips, soda (now with root beer in two different variates!), and of course, company. The show starts at 9, but people are free to join me anytime.

Projector status:
I've ordered the new lenses, and they shipped yesterday. It will be 50/50 as to weather they arrive on time to be used. I'll be checking for them Wednesday afternoon. If they don't show up in time, then I'll start some serious brightness tweaking by 8, and hopefully make those night scenes a bit more tolerable. Worst case, this will be the last of the old lenses, as by next week the problem WILL be fixed.

My weekend wound up WAY too busy to catch Mirrormask. There's only one Theater in DC which is showing it anyways. I'd like to see it either this week after work, or this weekend. I'll be pitching the concept of a work outing to see the film tomorrow. Either way, I'd like to hear from folks about the possibility of an outing.

Serenity grossed 10 Mil opening weekend, but to put this in perspective, the highest grossing film of the weekend was Flightplan, at 15 mil. Big name actor, most popular genre in film (psych thriller) and a huge parental heartstring draw... All that, and Serenity still wound up in second place.

The box office can be funny, people want 100mil in the first three days. But to look at it from another perspective, they recouped 25% of their expenses in 3 days. Word of mouth will be the life or death of Serenity now, it seems that everywhere I turn, people who should see this movie haven't for some reason.

On Saturday, I went to an old friend's birthday. Everyone there was a hardcore geek, yet more than half of them hadn't seen the movie.

The first third of TIME's interview of Joss Whedon and Neil Gaiman is up online. Check it out here.

Yeah, you read that right.

On related news, both of their films are coming out this Friday. Out of raw loyalty, I've got to brave the crowds and go see Serenity opening night. I'll probably see Mirrormask over the weekend. If anyone is interested in joining me, drop me a line.

I'll be running another lost showing on my limping projector. Like last time, there will be some tech stuff creeping in around the edges of an otherwise lovely evening. I'm hoping to clean up the picture a bunch and just make a better run of it this time. New lenses will hopefully arrive before NEXT Wednesday, whereupon I'll be able to show off what my projector can really do.

I know my postings have been sparse as of late, and there's not much to be done about it. If I get a chance to catch my breath, I'll be sure to let you all in on all the various happenings in my apparently very busy life.
